Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) activity in the area of dietary supplements has accelerated in the past year. FTC took enforcement actions against 17 companies representing $1 billion in product sales since December 2002 and has stepped up its initiative targeting weight loss claims. The future of dietary supplement regulation and enforcement will be addressed by both FDA and FTC officials in this session.
