About Us
The Lesaffre Group is the world's largest yeast
manufacturing company. Established in France (in 1853),
Lesaffre's operations now span the globe. We have
operational bases in 37 countries and 5 continents. In 2007
we launched the Lesaffre Human Care business unit. The goal
of this operating company is to leverage our expertise in
yeast, yeast derivatives and biotechnology into the human
health & nutrition marketplace.
Lesaffre’s Red Star® and LYNSIDE® brands of nutritional
yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) are grown
specifically for their nutritive value. In addition to
protein, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals, it contains
additional functional and beneficial components such as
β-1,3 glucan, trehalose, mannan
and glutathione. Studies have shown these components may
have potential health benefits such as improved
immune response, reduction of cholesterol and anti-cancer
properties.
We currently service five different markets, all
requiring specific products. Our focus is on continued
research and new product development. We are constantly
evaluating new applications for nutritional and mineral
yeast while focusing on and listening to our client’s
requests for new and innovative ideas. Our Sales, Marketing,
Technical and R&D groups also serve as a resource base for
our clients when they need to solve complex problems.
